Bay Choral Guild takes an a-cappella trip through time with Dutch Master Composers! Our program is a wonderful Renaissance to 20th Century overview of musical evolution in the Netherlands. Beginning with Sweelinck, whose early fugues laid the groundwork for those of J. S. Bach, we showcase Romantic-era harmonies of Diepenbrock and a motet by 20th Century composer Hendrik Andriessen. Next the polyphony and subtle harmonics of de Klerk and Strategier, and a highly modern exploration of vocal techniques written in 1990 by Hendrik's son Jurriaan. Finally two works by Henk Badings - Finnegan's Wake and Canamus, amici, canams, (Sing, my friends, let us sing!), both upbeat and delightful!
