About The JurassiC
Take funk, jazz, and pop music and put it in a blender. Add a dash of soul, and you are deep into the groove of The JurassiC. This colorful San Jose group started from jazz roots and found their original sound by mashing classic songs with hip-hop beats. Fast forward to present day, and the energy and infectious grooves from The JurassiC make it impossible to sit still (http://thejurassic.bandcamp.com/).
The JurassiC is making a name for itself, headlining the Lights and Music concert series at City Lights last year and releasing their self-titled four-song EP in March of 2012.
Bandleader Jackie Gage is an up-and-coming songbird known for her smooth vocals and funky renditions of popular songs. Guitarist Chris Main’s love for the Blues sneaks out in his shredding solos and heart-pounding strum patterns. “Maestro Bennett†adds the dramatic touches to songs with his jazz-inspired fills. Multi-instrumentalist Will Bohrer’s disco’esque bass lines bring head-bobbing energy to the room. And Michael Henning lays down the funk with his hard-hitting rhythms and wild cuts in time.

What began as a simple karaoke night out with friends at 7 Bamboo Lounge in San Jose Downtown soon led to the coming of Bay Area’s liveliest and most eclectic hip-hop/soul/r&b group, Soulful Obsession.
Lily Tran, Bennett Roth-Newell, Veno Bender, and Kosuke Okamura officially formed the band “Soulful Obsession†in the summer of August 2011 at San Jose State University. These four multi-talented individuals unleash their artistic creative abilities by collectively writing and producing all of their original songs.
On-the-rise in the thriving Silicon Valley, Soulful Obsession skillfully blends together a diverse range of sounds influenced by both classic artists like: Ray Charles, Stevie Wonder, Bill Withers, Etta James, and Ella Fitzgerald with modern-day artists like: Amy Winehouse, John Legend, Beyonce, Jamie Cullum, Lauryn Hill, Robin Thicke and The Roots.
