Baraka with live soundtrack by Yemanjo
Baraka is a non-narrative 1992 documentary by director Ron Fricke. Shot on 70-mm in 24 countries, the film is an unforgettable meditation on the human condition, the clash of modern and traditional cultures, and society's impact on the natural world. Yemanjo gives this seminal film new life with an original soundtrack combining live looping, multiple instruments and DJ beat science.
Yemanjo is a DJ, singer, multi-instrumentalist and massage therapist. He began combining live music with film in New York City in 2015, supplying live soundtracks to both Baraka and its sequel, Samsara. His original music combines elements of South American shamanic music with various Afro-Latin rhythms and electronic beats. He also regularly DJs for Ecstatic Dance and hosts cacao ceremonies in the Bay Area and beyond.
