Balinese Painting Workshop with I Madé Moja

SEE EVENT DETAILS
Learn the basics of Balinese painting with renowned artist and teacher, I Madé Moja!

This is a rare, hands-on opportunity for students of all levels to explore the traditional techniques and motives used in Balinese painting with a master artist. Pak Moja will guide you through each step of the process from sketching out, pen ink, shading with Chinese ink and watercolor on watercolor paper, as you create your own piece to take home.

I Madé Moja comes from Batuan, a traditional arts village in Bali, known for its classical music and dance, fine woodcarving and unique painting style. These time-honored traditions are passed from one generation to the next and continue to thrive, despite great changes in the culture and economy of Bali. Since moving to the Bay Area, Moja has branched out artistically. In addition to teaching and experimenting with new themes in his painting. Moja has also worked extensively with ShadowLight Productions, a non-profit theater company based in San Francisco that takes its inspiration from classical Indonesian “wayang kulit” (shadow puppet theater).

Families are welcome, as are young adults ages 12 and up.
