Bach for Harpsichord and Viola da Gamba

SEE EVENT DETAILS
Barefoot Chamber Concerts celebrates its return to live music (there really is no other kind, the other, electronic thing is just a facsimile) with a concert of music by J.S. Bach for harpsichord and viola da gamba. Thus continues our mission to help you start the weekend right. The series ("an enterprise noted for both its quality and informality" - San Francisco Classical Voice) presents really good music in the right acoustic and without the formality of most classical music events. Our concerts start at 6:30 on Fridays and last no more than 75 minutes. There will be ample time to move on to other evening entertainments. Kids are very welcome if quiet, and admission under 18 is free. Traditionally, we have had light refreshments available before, during, and after the concert, however, we have regretfully stopped this practice until the pandemic allows us to resume it.

We're very excited about this concert; we can't think of a better way to step into the new, post-pandemic world. This is truly music for the soul. Bach wrote volumes of great harpsichord music, but only four sonatas for harpsichord and viola da gamba. Andrew Canepa (harpsichord) and Peter Hallifax (viola da gamba) will play some familiar tunes and some less familiar (you may be surprised).

In the perfect acoustic of St. Mary Magdalen's newly refurbished Parish Hall (enter down the steps from the parking lot, entrance off Berryman), this will be an unforgettable experience.

Please check our website (BarefootChamberConcerts.com) nearer the date for the applicable Covid protocol. Proof of vaccination, masks, and social distancing are currently required.

The program will be approximately 70 minutes with no intermission.

$5 to $50 (pay what you will).
