WALK #4 (of 17 Walks) - for 80th Anniversary Challenge
JOIN THE AUTHORS of the SF Guide, Walking San Francisco's 49 Mile Scenic Drive, for a 2.5-mile hike along a section of the 49 Mile Scenic Drive that visitors love: Walk #4, The Presdio to the Golden Gate Bridge
For 80 years SF's 49 Mile Scenic Drive has directed tourists and locals alike around the Best of SF. Whether or not you are taking the challenge to WALK the ENTIRE 49 Mile Scenic Drive in 2018—you are welcome to get a taste of this new SF Walking Adventure.
Walk #4 begins where San Francisco began—at the Presidio. You’ll be surprised at what is in here: Yoda, an original earthquake shack, the City’s oldest adobe building, Buffalo Soldiers’ barracks, pet cemetery, a jaw-dropping City view—and the Golden Gate Bridge!
As we walk by it all, the authors will share a few tidbits of the most-likely-true history and fun factoids we discovered while researching the guidebook.
BEGIN: Lombard Street at Lyon Street, San Francisco, CA (the Presidio’s Lombard Gate,)
END: Golden Gate Bridge. You can hop on Muni back to the beginning. Or walk back with us on another 2 mile trek via Crissy Field. Or ttake off for your own adventure.
Difficulty: a gradual 2.5 mile uphill walk (3 out of 5 hill steepness rating).
Well-behaved children and dogs welcomed
Books available for purchase and autographing at event or walksf49.com
(If RAIN, or some act of God, cancels the walk, we'll inform attendees via email.)
