Kathryn Gualtieri is a local author who will make an appearance at the Capitola Book Cafe to discuss her latest Carmel historical mystery, The Laundryman's Daughter. This is the third novel in Kathryn's popular series, capturing the essence of theater life in the Carmel community in the 1920's. The book follows Nora Finnegan, the feisty reporter last seen in Murder Takes the Stage, as she finds herself ensnared in a web of uncertain responsibility surrounding the care of an orphaned Chinese girl whose laundryman father was found dead with a spent opium pipe nearby. Annoyed that Nora has taken on a substitute mother's role, her boss at the newspaper demands that she focus on her latest assignment while unknown tree cutting vandals are distorting the scientific research projects going on at the Carnegie Coastal Laboratory located at the edge of town.
Fellow Capitola mystery writer and owner of Gayle's Bakery Gayle Ortiz will also be in attendance.
