Starring Oscar winner Lupita Nyong’o, Mira Nair’s “Queen of Katwe” (2016) tells the true story of a young girl from rural Uganda whose world changes when she is introduced to the game of chess. This second installment of our series celebrating the cinematic accomplishments of Asian American directors just might encourage you — or your kids — to try something new. Rated PG.

Bring your own pillow or cushion to get cozy. Popcorn and chairs provided.

Tickets are $15 and Asian Art Museum members receive free admission.
