Ashkenaz begins its historic 50th year anniversary with the Golden 50th Kickoff on Saturday, January 14--declared David Nadel Week in 1997 by the City of Berkeley in honor of Ashkenaz's Founder. The Golden 50th Kickoff will feature Nakarat (Balkan), Karamo Susso (West African), SambaDá (Afro-Brazilian), with dance demonstrations by Kathy Reyes (Bachata) and Nonstop Bhangra (Indian), highlighting some of the many live world and roots music genres that Ashkenaz has presented over the years.
