Where Peace, Love & Street Culture Take Center Stage
"Once upon a heady afternoon on April 30, 1978, the Haight-Ashbury Street Fair burst onto the scene like a psychedelic phoenix rising from the incense-scented ashes of a faded Summer of Love. Born from the minds and hearts of local merchants, artists, dreamers, and with a little help from District Supervisor Harvey Milk--yes, that Harvey Milk--the Fair was a love letter to a neighborhood that had given the world more than tie-dye and tambourines. It gave voice to revolution, resistance, and raw creative spirit.
What began as a local block party celebrating the rebirth of Haight-Ashbury after a turbulent post-'60s crash has become one of San Francisco's most iconic, free-spirited festivals--a day when the ghosts of Hendrix, Joplin, and Kerouac dance with the next generation of punks, poets, skaters, and seekers."
Haight Ashbury Street Fair's Artwalk is an art program offered by the Haight Ashbury Street Fair that provides local artists an affordable opportunity to showcase their talents, collaborate and participate with the fair.
We are located on Ashbury Street with Haight on the South Side of the street.
This is your opportunity to support local artists and the Haight Ashbury Street Fair at the same time. We feature a variety of mediums, painters, jewelry, sculpture, fashion and fun activities. Check out this year's lineup:
