ArtSpan's Virtual Artist Reception and Mixer on Zoom

SEE EVENT DETAILS
Calling all artists and art-lovers, join us on Zoom as we celebrate ArtSpan's Art-in-Neighborhoods exhibition during our Zoom Artist Mixer!

Join us as we celebrate ArtSpan's Art-in-Neighborhoods Exhibition @ Ritual Coffee via our first ever Zoom Mixer!

COVID-19 has shuttered the city, but we can still build and celebrate community from the comfort of our homes. This event will be hosted on Zoom as a virtual mixer & reception with exhibiting artists:

Jayne Foster
Portraits of Unknown Sitters: This collection of work brings together abstracted female portraits which explore femininity, identity and the power of clothing to portray or camouflage different versions of oneself. Each portrait is of an unknown person, or sitter. There are hints of recognizable elements in each portrait; a suggestion of a face, some jewelry or semi identifiable aspects of clothing. Although abstract, each composition is grounded in a strong female form, giving each unknown portrait a beguiling, and individual, sense of identity.

Shannon Glasheen
Shannon Glasheen is a Mission District, SF based artist. She is a trained fashion designer and self taught artist who creates multi-media sculptures from recycled bicycle parts. These parts are collected from local shops and much of the other material, such as the wood mounts, are found objects from the sidewalks of the Mission. Her inspiration in drawn from years of being a bike messenger and having a passion for repurposing materials that would otherwise end up in the landfill.

Holly Wong
I create installations integrating non-traditional approaches with more traditional sewing techniques associated with the history of women. Using various materials such as food cellophane, dichroic film, tulle, paper, gouache watercolor and candle smoke, I strive to reconnect in myself as well as in the external environment what has been fragmented. Much of my work is constructed with ephemeral materials that are components which become a visual whole. My work is a constant process of assembling, deconstructing and then making whole once again.

Grab a drink, bring a snack, invite your friends, and join us for an evening of artful discussion and friendly faces. These amazing artists "on view" at Ritual Coffee will discuss their work, share images and insights of the pieces included in the exhibition and will be available to answer questions.

**You will receive a link to the Zoom Room 48 hours in advance of the event, 2 hours in advance of the event, and at the time of the event**
