About the Artist: Katherine Pulido was born in San Francisco to a Japanese-American mother and a Mexican father. Growing up she gravitated towards art and creative writing and received a B.A. in English from UC Berkeley. As a Book Arts and Printmaking MFA candidate at the University of the Arts in Philadelphia, she worked with original illustrations, creature development, and book production. She has interned with Peter Kruty Editions in Brooklyn and at the Borowsky Center for Publication Arts in Philadelphia where she learned offset lithography.
//////
About the Poet: Since 2008, Silvi, The Poetry Store poet, has written and sold thousands of poems throughout the Bay Area and beyond (including Antarctica!). In addition to creating on-the-spot poems, Silvi’s one-of-a-kind artwork has shown at Secession Art & Design, Collector Gallery, Femina Potens Gallery, SOMArts, Ramp Gallery, The Goods Gallery, Philz Coffee, LaBoutique, and Steel grass Farm in Kauai. She’s also a current member of City Art Gallery and shows work there often. In three minutes or less, you will have your poem as spontaneous as combustion and as original as bergamot and balsamic on your ice cream. Silvi loves to practice her craft , share her art, meet people, and bring poetry into the world. She’d love nothing more than to do this more with more people. She’s so grateful to everyone who supports her work and she looks forward to being in touch with you.

About the Venue: Cumaica Coffee is a Nicaraguan coffee roastery and cafe with four location in San Francisco. Since 1993 they've dedicated themselves to roasting and delivering the freshest, most flavorful cup of coffee available in the bay area. They remain connected to their Nicaraguan roots by working with small plantations much like the one started by their family in the Matagalpa mountains during the 1960's. At this cozy location in the Excelsior they provide great coffee as well as nourishing snacks and meals that create a comfortable gathering place for their local community.

About the Program: ArtSpan’s Art-in-Neighborhoods program serves the city of San Francisco by connecting communities with local artists while activating spaces with vibrant, locally-made artwork. ArtSpan partners with local businesses and building owners to bring art exhibitions and art events to businesses, dormant storefronts, and empty spaces for lease that seek artwork for their blank walls. Local artists who are ArtSpan members are given the opportunity to display, promote, and sell their artwork in these diverse venues. All aspects of the program allow otherwise unused walls, spaces, or properties to become creative arenas for celebrating local arts.
The Art-In-Neighborhoods program strives to create visibility and accessibility for local arts in San Francisco. ArtSpan provides the public with free, high quality arts exposure. Simultaneously, local ArtSpan artists are given the opportunity to promote and sell their artwork. Each of the Art-In-Neighborhoods exhibitions and community events will provide clear, consistent information about ArtSpan programing to educate the public about ArtSpan’s goals and how to become a supporter – by attending our events and buying artwork from local artists!
