ArtSpan Artist Workshop: TAXES FOR ARTISTS

SEE EVENT DETAILS

Get organized for tax season. Diana from Treehouse Taxes will focus on tax issues for independent artists. She will answer the following questions and more:

What is considered income?
Am I self employed?
What if I have a mix of w2 and 1099 income?
What expenses are deductible?
Are there other ways to reduce my tax bill?
What records do I need to keep?
Do I need to pay quarterly taxes?

About the Presenter: Diana has spent the last 18 years juggling the life of a performing artist while developing and maintaining her left brain as the managing director of an arts organization, a waitress, an acrobatics instructor, an office manager, a massage therapist, a bookkeeper and finally a full-fledged tax nerd. Diana knows about cobbling together an income, tracking expenses, and pursuing a dream. Through it all she maintains that connection is the point of everything.

About ArtSpan Artist Workshops:
ArtSpan presents monthly 90-minute workshops designed to sharpen business and financial literacy for professional artists, prepare artists for exhibiting work inside and outside the studio, and encourage community between fellow artists and the public. Through these community events ArtSpan creates a platform for artists to thrive, fostering a Bay Area that values the arts.
Workshops are free to attend for all ArtSpan Artists Members. A $20 suggested donation is requested from Non-Member attendees.  No one turned away for lack of funds.
All events are held at SOMArts Cultural Center, 934 Brannan St, 94103, unless otherwise noted. ArtSpan participates in SOMArts’ Affordable Space Program, which provides below-market rental space, production and publicity assistance to arts and cultural organizations.
