Mix, Mingle and Make with ArtSpan using a bounty of objects found at Building Resources re-Use center.
ArtSpan assemblage artist, Dianne Hoffman, will give a short presentation about her work utilizing repurposed, discarded objects. Guests will have an opportunity to tour the facility to stir creative ideas before a fun, hands-on activity with salvaged objects in the Reclaimed Room Gallery with snacks and beverages.
About the Artist: Dianne Hoffman is a self-taught mixed media artist with a primary focus in found objects and recycled materials mingled with collage, paint and clay. Her work conveys nostalgic stories that balance aspects of light and dark with whimsy, sincerity and magnetism. Dianne has been a full time artist of salvaged and repurposed components since 2010 with work found in collections worldwide. She maintains an abundant workspace at Arc Studios and Gallery in the South of Market neighborhood of San Francisco.
About the Venue: Building Resources has made a name for itself as San Francisco’s only source for reusable, recycled and remanufactured building and landscaping materials. The Reclaimed Room is a gallery on the premises that exhibits environmental arts, crafts and media as well as offers educational engagement on the environmental art movement. The Reclaimed Room creates a physical space where the gritty leftovers of urban industry and the imagination of the artists collide and transform together.
About ArtSpan Artist Mixers: ArtSpan produces Artist Mixer events throughout the year to give San Francisco artists a chance to meet, mingle, and make art with each other. Past events have included mixers at artist studios, a Crochet Jam at a cafe, a literary reading and sketchfest at a gallery, a figure drawing session in the Dogpatch, and much much more! Mixers are FREE for ArtSpan Members! A suggested $20 Donation is requested from the General Public.
