Artist Talk with Kala Fellowship Artist Colin Lyons
Saturday, July 27, 3:30pm
Kala Gallery, 2990 San Pablo Ave, Berkeley, CA 94702
Kala Art Institute is excited to present an artist talk by 2012-2013 Kala Fellow Colin Lyons. Kala’s Fellowship Program includes an annual series of public programs presented by current Fellows during their studio residencies. This program is free of charge and open to the public. Refreshments will be served.
Colin Lyons holds a BFA from Mount Allison University and an MFA from University of Alberta. His recent work fuses printmaking, sculpture, and chemical experiments, exploring industry through the lens of fragility and impermanence. He grew up in Canada’s original oil boomtown of Petrolia, Ontario; an experience that has fueled his obsession with industrial ruins. His work has been shown in solo exhibitions across Canada, as well as in group exhibitions in Canada, Japan, Poland, and the United States. His current project, Automatic Ruins will be presented in upcoming exhibitions at Judith & Norman Alix Art Gallery (Sarnia, Ontario), ARTSPACE (Peterborough, Ontario), OBORO (Montreal, Quebec), SPACES (Cleveland, Ohio), and Centre d’Exposition Circa (Montreal, Quebec).
