Avenue 12 Gallery is delighted to present an Artist Talk:
"Trip-wire" Inez Storer: Paintings, Assemblage and Mixed Media Collage.
Join us with Inez Storer as she talks about her work including some of her recently com
pleted paintings.
The artwork of Inez Storer invites the viewer in through inventive and colorful combinations of imagery with layers of richly textured paint and mixed media. The underlying stories are infused with personal experiences that are still relevant to the times in which we live. These allegorical messages are at once playful and profound.
Inez Storer was born in Santa Monica, California and received her M.A. from San Francisco State University. Storer's work has been exhibited in solo exhibitions consistently in the United States at institutions including the Reno Museum of Art, the San the San Jose Museum of Art, the Monterey Museum of Art, the Fresno Art Museum, Yerba Buena Center for the Arts, the Missoula Museum of Art, Montana, The National Museum of Jewish History, Philadelphia and The Contemporary Jewish Museum of San Francisco. Storer taught for many years at the San Francisco Art Institute, and before that Sonoma State University, San Francisco State University, and the College of Marin.
She has received numerous grants and awards, including a Pollock-Krasner Foundation grant in 1999, and has worked twice as a visiting artist at the American Academy in Rome (1997, 1996).
Her work is included in the permanent collections of the de Young Museum (San Francisco), the Oakland Museum of California, the Lannan Museum in Fort Worth, Texas, the San Jose Museum of Art, and the de Saisset Museum at Santa Clara University. Storer lives in Inverness, California and maintains a studio in Point Reyes.
