Please join us in celebrating Art Practical's 10-year anniversary! We'll be in the lounge at Minnesota Street Project (1275 Minnesota St. in San Francisco) on Friday, October 18 from 6-9PM.
To celebrate this momentous occasion, we're launching a brand-new set of editions and zines, and asking for your support! Stop by for a drink, and check out new prints by Bay Area artists Libby Black, Katie Dorame, Ala Ebtekar, Mik Gaspay, Rhonda Holberton, Klea McKenna, Ranu Mukherjee, Jenny Odell, Lava Thomas, and Sam Vernon. The zine set compiles a selection of essays and conversations--one from each of our last ten years of publication. Bound together, these pieces chronicle the ways in which our community has considered notions of home in relation to artistic practice over the course of a decade.
Zine sets and editions will be available upon donation. Your generous donations will help fund our current initiatives, stretch our imaginations, and foster new content for the future. Art Practical started ten years ago as a volunteer-run organization, with a passionate group of contributors who saw the need for Bay Area arts to be represented in international arts discourse. Ten years later, we have mentored a new generation of arts writers and offer competitive pay. We are run by an equally passionate small team of part-time staff, who work hard to support voices that reflect the Bay Area arts community and beyond. Your support will enable us to grow as one of the only remaining publications dedicated to covering arts and culture in the Bay Area.
About Us
Art Practical is a visual arts publishing organization celebrating its tenth year in the Bay Area. We are people-forward and equitable. We publish with passion, rigor, and integrity through initiatives that include online arts discourse, podcasts, books, educational programs, and public events. As a platform, Art Practical embraces these many forms to connect diverse regional voices and amplify underrepresented perspectives from the Bay Area and broader West Coast.
Published by California College of the Arts since 2014, Art Practical is committed to educational partnerships and continues to provide professional development, financial support, and mentorship to those coming next because it will take more than us to make the art world we hope to see.
