About the Presenter:
Emilie van der Hoorn an art conservator specializing in works on paper. She completed undergraduate degrees in Art History and Fine Art before pursuing a masters degree in Art Conservation at Northumbria University in the UK. Since graduating she has worked in public institutions and private studios including the Asian Art Museum in San Francisco, the Royal BC Museum in Vancouver, and the Nationaal Archief in the Netherlands.
Van der Hoorn Art and Archival Conservation assists private clients, museums, archives, and collectors in the Bay Area and beyond with their art collections. In addition to the conservation of works on paper, the studio does a range of preventative work to ensure the longevity of art and objects. This includes custom storage, matting, and housing solutions for books, documents, photographs, scrolls, and other paper artworks. She also does collection surveys, condition reporting, disaster response plans, and housekeeping manuals.
