THIS EVENT HAS ENDED
Join us for a thought-provoking discussion with visiting artist Dina Yakerson as we explore how Israeli art responds to the ongoing war in the Middle East and how artistic expression emerges in times of crisis.

This talk will delve into the long history of artworks created in response to war, violence and political upheaval. By examining works by influential artists such as Pablo Picasso, Francisco Goya and others, we will reflect on how these images have shaped public perception of historical events and the vital role art plays in society.

Throughout this lecture, the artist will explore how her own artistic processes have been affected by these times, while also examining other contemporary Israeli artworks and cultural initiatives born in a time of war. Through these examples, we will ask critical questions about the role of art today: how it engages with political realities, personal tragedies and collective memory.

The lecture is part of Yakersons artist-in-residency stay at The ChalkHill Residency in California.
