FACTR presents the art exhibition of Russian born artist Gennadiy Volfovskiy, featuring the artists’s paintings of the region where Pushkin lived and worked.
Volfovskiy is an internationally exhibited artist showing in cities including, New York, San Francisco, St. Petersburg and others.
He immigrated to USA in 1994. Now in his late 80’s he is still active and continues to create artworks.
Volfovskiy calls this exhibition “Pushkin Dayâ€, because it is dedicated to Alexander Pushkin, the Great Russian poet and founder of modern Russian literature, whose work unites people of all ages, faiths and nationalities and is translated in varying languages of the world.
Most of the paintings for this exhibition depict the places related to the poet and the artist’s own hometown of Pushkin, named after the poet, formerly known as Tsarskoe Selo – Kings Village. In this place the poet spent several years studying at Lyceum. The paintings, both in watercolor and oil, seek to capture the essence of the small Russian town and surrounding area.
The event will feature live readings of Pushkin’s poetry.
The host of the event - The Family Alliance for Counseling Tools and Resolution (FACTR) is a multi-cultural service center dedicated to promoting the resilience and well-being of immigrants and refugees.
In addition to mental health programming, FACTR also seeks to reach out to the Bay Area’s artisan and artist community through its Footprints Guild, which is a micro-enterprise program that serves local immigrant artists and artisans encouraging them to share their creative talents and cultural heritage through active artistic participation within their new community.
