Arion Artist Talk: Sandow Birk & Robert Mailer Anderson

SEE EVENT DETAILS
Join us for the inaugural event of the Arion Artist Talk Series bringing artists and writers into public dialogue.

Celebrated visual artist Sandow Birk will appear with novelist Robert Mailer Anderson in conversation about creative collaboration and what it means to be a politically conscious artist in 2022. Birk illustrated Arion's edition of The Fairy Tales of Oscar Wilde and has earned Guggenheim, Fullbright, and NEA grants for his body of work engaging California social history. Anderson is the author of the best-selling novel Boonville, and has collaborated with Birk on many projects from his play The Death of Teddy Ballgame to the 2019 film Windows on the World. Their conversation will explore the transformative potential of collaboration and the artist's struggle to make images that reach beyond illustration.

Cocktails with the author and artist at 5:30 pm. Free talk at 6:30 pm.

Co-sponsored by Catharine Clark Gallery and Wright & Brown Distilling Co.

Proof of vaccination required for entry. Masking is strongly encouraged throughout the event.
