Bay Area, Philippine elder artist Alleluia Panis’s latest work with composer Rachel Lastimosa of indie-soul, R&B duo Dirty Boots and filmmaker Wilfred Galila, INCARCERATED 6x9, is a bold, multi-layered immersive 60-minute dance and media experience. Set in the future, 2048, 6x9 explores the state of humanity among Pilipinos in the US, 150 years after the US annexation of the Philippines, centralizing on three Pilipino American inmates as they struggle to survive the US prison system, delving into the impact of displacement, incarceration and colonization of Pilipino Americans. Performances will take place at Bindlestiff Studio’s intimate black box, transporting the audience to experience the confinement of a six by nine jail cell.
