A vibrant and intoxicatingly fragrant exhibit of more than 41 categories of expertly grown roses will be on display to the public, along with more than 200 rose and landscape photos. Visiting American Rose Society certified judges will award honors to rose entries based on six criteria including form, color, substance, stem and foliage, balance and proportion and size. Eleven additional awards are given for photography including Best of Show and Creative Interpretation. The annual, one-day-only event offers educational opportunities for aspiring and expert gardeners on how to nurture in Northern California’s nature, and identifies best specimens suited for specific climate and soil conditions.
The family-friendly event is just in time for Mother’s Day and also features a children’s table where talented volunteers will assist kids of all ages in creating a beautiful bouquet for Mom at no cost. At 4 p.m., after judging is complete, cut “grown in Marin” roses are available for purchase at $1 per stem and four mini roses for $1 per bunch, with 100 % of the proceeds benefitting the Center for Domestic Peace.
