Annalee Levin on Goldwork Embroidery

Many of the costumes in the exhibition "Veiled Meanings: Fashioning Jewish Dress, from the Collection of The Israel Museum, Jerusalem" are adorned with gilt, or goldwork embroidery. Learn more about the history and process with Annalee Levin, director of community engagement at the San Francisco School of Needlework and Design. Levin trained in technical hand embroidery at the Royal School of Needlework and holds an MFA from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago.
