Come join the Angel Island Conservancy for a special program on the Natural History of San Francisco Bay's Islands. At the summit of Angel Island (Mt. Livermore), you can see 6 of the other main islands of the bay: Alcatraz, Brooks, Red Rock, Yerba Buena, and the Brothers. We will discuss how every island is unique, and how two main factors: isolation and size, affect the plants and animals that live there. We will also discuss how a third factor--us humans--have impacted the wildlife of these islands. Along the trail, we will stop to point out special features of Angel Island's natural history, including its wildflowers, endemic mole (found nowhere else in the world!), and geology.
