Ancient River are on a mission to redefine Southern rock & roll. Well, maybe that's a bit of an exaggeration. But the Tennessee two-piece do creatively mix Americana and psychedelic rock into one big ball of spacey roots jams. Until recently, they've bounced around with different lineups, and from 2010-2012 released one "Americana" album and one "shoegaze" album per year. More recently they've locked down a steady lineup and opted to marry their influences more overtly, a sort of grungy Black-Motorcycle-Club-meets-Neil-Young-meets-the-freakier-late-'60s-Pink-Floyd material.
