Boston's Ancient Filth is the crust punk baby of the Black Flag and Eyehategod. They never lose their speed to self-indulgent speeches or pop melodies, but instead stick to slamming riffs and screaming at the top of their lungs. The singer belts out anarchist lyrics so fast, he's able to cram more expression into one 50-second tune than the average singer can convey in a four-minute pop song. It's a raw, aggressive, visceral live experience-wild and loose with the slightest shred of restraint. (KF)
