A Bay Area homecoming honoring the past and inspiring the future. Fresh off international tours with Grammy-winner Fantastic Negrito and a wave of high-profile collaborations, Lily brings a bold, irresistible new sound to the stage.
Born and raised in the musical heart of the Bay Area, Lillian is a powerhouse bassist, vocalist, composer, and producer making waves across New York, the Bay, and beyond. Rooted in funk, folk, Afro-Cuban jazz, and straight-ahead traditions, she brings a fresh, fearless energy to the stage.
A third-generation musician, and granddaughter of saxophonist Charley Stern, Lillian has performed and recorded with Karl Perazzo, Fantastic Negrito, Richard Howell, Martin Luther McCoy, Jacqui Naylor, and more. She's played iconic venues from Yoshi's to Festival Jazz Plaza in Havana, and recently made her bandleading debut in New York.
Graduating from The New School College of Performing Arts in May 2024, she's studied under bass legends Buster Williams and Reggie Workman. With a tour launching this summer, Lillian's just getting started -- and Black Cat is where you'll want to experience her next.
