An Evening with Santana Percussionist Karl Perazzo

SEE EVENT DETAILS
at Stanford Dinkelspiel Auditorium (see times)
Join long-time Santana percussionist Karl Perazzo in a special concert with the Stanford Afro-Latin Jazz ensemble on Friday, March 7 at 7:30 in Dinkelspiel Auditorium on the Stanford Campus. This unique evening includes several works brought in by Mr. Perazzo specifically for the group, and includes the music of classic artists such as Conjunto Libre, Elio Revé, Johnny Pacheco, Edu Lobo, and Pete Rodriguez.

Karl’s electric performances have amazed audiences for decades, whether as part of the new Santana Band or as a bandleader in his own right. An internationally recognized percussionist and educator, Mr. Perazzo has also traveled world as a master clinician as well. He has several Grammys and Latin Grammys to his credit as well as recording and performing credits too numerous to mention.

Despite being a Bay Area native, Mr. Perazzo does not appear often in local venues, so don't miss this event! Tickets are $15 general/$10 senior & student. For more information, go to http://latinjazz.stanford.edu.

The Stanford Afro-Latin Jazz Ensemble is directed by Grammy nominated pianist Murray Low. Since it's inception in 2008, it has rapidly developed into one of the finest performing groups of its kind. The group previously received a prestigious grant from SiCa (Stanford Institute for Creativity and the Arts) that helped to elevate Stanford University's presence as an education center in the field of Afro-Latin Jazz, as well as enhance student understanding of the music and increasing performance acumen. Several prominent musicians and educators in the field have mentored and collaborated with the group, including John Santos, Ray Vega, Jesus Diaz, Doug Beavers, John Calloway, Wayne Wallace and Andrea Brachfeld.
