SEE EVENT DETAILS
SHOW 8pm DOOR 7pm

Lúnasa and Tim O'Brien embark on a transatlantic journey exploring the common roots, interplay and mutual influences at the heart of American and Irish music.  Tim O'Brien (of Hot Rize) is a Grammy-winning American music master who has written songs recorded by major Nashville stars (Garth Brooks, The Dixie Chics, etc.) “A master of American folk music, Irish music, Scottish music – it doesn't matter; a fine songwriter and one of my favorite singers.” -- Mark Knopfler (Dire Straits). Lúnasa is quite simply "The Hottest Irish acoustic group on the planet" -- Associated PressMaure

Named for an ancient Celtic harvest festival in honor of the Irish god Lugh, patron of the arts, Lúnasa is indeed a gathering of some of the top musical talents in Ireland. Its members have helped form the backbone of some of the greatest Irish groups of the decade.Bassist Trevor Hutchinson was a key member of The Waterboys, and later he, with guitarist Donogh Hennessy, would form the dynamic rhythm section of The Sharon Shannon Band; Ed Boyd (Flook, Michael McGoldrick Band) has recently replaced Hennessy; Fiddler Sean Smyth is an All-Ireland champion who has played with Donal Lunny’s Coolfin; Kevin Crawford, considered to be among the finest flutists in Ireland played with the acclaimed traditional group Moving Cloud; and, piper Cillian Vallely of the famous Vallely artistic clan has performed with Riverdance and recently recorded with Bruce Springsteen. Folk Roots magazine has rightly termed them an “Irish music dream team.”
Grammy-winner Tim O'Brien is a multi-instrumentalist and songwriter of extraordinary talent.  The uncanny intersection of traditional and contemporary elements in his songwriting, his tireless dedication to a vast and still-expanding array of instruments, and his ongoing commitment to place himself in as many unique and challenging musical scenarios as possible has made him a key figure in today’s thriving American roots music scene. O’Brien’s presence has been strongly felt not only in his own rich music, but in the many recordings of his songs by such artists as the Dixie Chicks, Garth Brooks, Dierks Bentley, Nickel Creek, Kathy Mattea, The New Grass Revival, and the Seldom Scene, and in his recorded collaborations with Steve Martin, The Chieftains, and innumerable others. Most recently, O’Brien has been performing before capacity crowds in the band of Mark Knopfler.
