Fourteen watercolor painters convened at the Morris Graves Estate & Foundation near Eureka recently where they explored the late artist's work and techniques.
They learned from seeing Grave's work, and from working in his environment. They found their own personal ways to absorb, translate, and catch his spirit. Five days of on-site painting and discussion produced some remarkable work from these visiting artists. Some of it will be on display at AWE Gallery for the months of December and January.
The painting experience was coordinated by noted local artist, Kay Russell, and hosted by Robert and Desiree Yarber of the Graves Foundation, who provided an educational, congenial, and enriching experience.
Participants in the group show are: Gail Block, Mary Ciofalo, Sue Fandel, Carol Freidenberg, Joselyn Hunter, Peter Jamgochian, Marlene Kramer, Mimi Makowsky, Camille Morishige, Lynette Porteous, Pam Rabinowitz, Peg Robinson, Liz Schiff and Heather Solway.
