Local indie-rockers Amonie are not in any kind of rush: consider their infrequent releases, occasional random live performances and their penchant for eight-minute (or longer) songs. They take their time orchestrating some nuanced, instrumental post-rock that builds slowly, but explodes in epic proportions. It's not overtly complex, but their music is rich with texturing, gushing emotions and dynamic shifts. Anyone willing to follow the band will be rewarded. The music falls into a similar category as Godspeed You! Black Emperor and Mogwai, but Amonie are more subtle than those bands. (Aaron Carnes)
