Israeli cellist Amit Peled often surprises by breaking down barriers between performer and audience, making classical music more accessible to a wider public. "His amiable and inviting personality is exactly the type everyone says we'll need more of if classical music is to survive" (Baltimore Sun). The new caretaker of his hero Pablo Casals' own cello, Peled has created a program honoring the Catalan master's legacy and artistry, performing some of Casals' signature works. Also on the program is a new commission for Peled and this treasured instrument by Lera Auerbach.
This evenings performance will include works by Handel, Bach, Beethoven, Faure, Bach, Saint-Saens, and Auerbach.
