THE UP and DOWN (Alameda)
Traditional American music played aggressively! Roughed up Bluegrass, Outlaw Country, Rock and Roll, Irish Drinking Songs. The band started as a loud rock/punk three piece in 2005, but soon added a banjo and started doing a few country songs. Later thy added a Mandolin and started playing Irish Drinking songs. Fiddle came next and are now a full six pack.
Up & Down play originals and covers, from the Clash, the Replacements, Tom Waits, Cheap Trick, the Pogues, Concrete Blonde, Dylan, the Stones, Rod Stewart, Social Distortion, Kenny Rogers, Billy Joel, Guns n Roses, Dropkick Murphys, Flogging Molly, Steve Earl, Violent Femmes, Beatles...to name a few.

FLYPAPER BLUES (Santa Cruz)
Santa Cruz based Americana band Flypaper Blues features 2-part female harmonies, driving upright bass rhythms, flanked by a smokin' fiddle, mandolin and acoustic guitars. This 100% homegrown, local band brings influences from traditional bluegrass, singer songwriter, to alt-county genres. Songwriting is personal, comedic, and inspired by the existential need to transcend the hazards and pitfalls of modern life with soul nourishing music.
