Newly Crowned Americana Lifetime Achievement Award Honoree Dave Alvin Join Forces with Jimmie Dale Gilmore, Chuck Prophet and Cumbia Shoes, Bill Kirchen, Austin de Lone, and Special Guests the Lost Planet Airmen for a Benefit Concert for Prader-Willi Homes of California

Prader-Willi Homes of California is thrilled to announce the newly crowned Americana Lifetime Achievement Award Honoree Dave Alvin joins ALIVE AND KICKING, a benefit concert on Sunday, October 6, at the iconic Great American Music Hall in San Francisco. This special evening will bring together a stellar lineup of Hardly Strictly Bluegrass favorites, including Jimmie Dale Gilmore, Chuck Prophet and Cumbia Shoes, Bill Kirchen, Austin de Lone, the legendary Lost Planet Airmen -- five original members of Commander Cody and his Lost Planet Airmen and Dave Alvin. This will be an unforgettable night of wild music and unexpected collaborations.
The ALIVE AND KICKING concert will raise crucial funds for Prader-Willi Homes of California, formerly known as The Richard de Lone Special Housing Project, a nonprofit organization dedicated to establishing and supporting residential living for individuals with Prader-Willi syndrome. Tickets are $75 for general admission and are available online at gamh.com. Special VIP seating is available upon email request to [email protected].
The evening will feature performances by:
Jimmie Dale Gilmore--Bringing his distinctive blend of country, folk, and Americana music.
Dave Alvin --From the kinetic fury of The Blasters with his brother Phil to a decades-long solo career replete with songs from the moving to the mystical, Dave Alvin has made good on his claim that he makes "both kinds of folk music - quiet and loud." Last month, he was honored with a Lifetime Achievement Award by the Americana Music Association.
Chuck Prophet and Cumbia Shoes--Delivering an electrifying set as they prepare to release their forthcoming album.
Bill Kirchen--Celebrated as the "Titan of the Telecaster," he is a founding member of Commander Cody and his Lost Planet Airmen.
Austin de Lone--Keyboardist known for his masterful skills on both the piano and the organ, de Lone is hailed as one of the pioneers of the British pub rock movement in the 1970s. de Lone and Kirchen have played with for decades, including stints together with Elvis Costello, Nick Lowe and Commander Cody. They will bring their own special brew of rock and roll to the event.
Lost Planet Airmen--After more than 50 years of exploring the far reaches of the musical universe, the Lost Planet Airmen are reuniting for this worthy cause. The Lost Planet Airmen recently released their latest album, Back From the Ozone. Bandmembers include Dr. John Tichy, Bill Kirchen, Andy Stein, Buffalo Bruce Barlow, and Bobby Black, along with Pete Siegel and Paul Revelli and Austin de Lone.
The night will kick off with a heartfelt performance by Caroline de Lone, who is returning from Nashville to perform a special song dedicated to her brother Richie, the inspiration behind Prader-Willi Homes of California.
