Dojo, Sofia University

Enjoy a weekend of Aikido exploring both in theory and in practice O’Sensei’s most important principles, including working with fire (yang) and water (yin) and standing on the floating bridge of heaven. Training and testing will take place on Saturday, October 5, in one-hour intervals and will conclude with a participatory Zen calligraphy class on Sunday, October 6. Brushes and other materials for this class will be supplied. All are welcome to participate in one or both classes.

Robert Frager, PhD is the founder of Sofia University. He was a personal student of O’Sensei and has been practicing Aikido for 49 years.

John Stevens, is a Buddhist priest and professor of Buddhist Studies. He has written over 30 books on Aikido and related subjects. An accomplished calligrapher and curator of Buddhist art and calligraphy, he is also the author of Zen Brushwork: Focusing the Mind with Calligraphy and Painting.

**Special Requirements: For Aikido Training Class and Test, please wear Aikido uniform, bokken, jo – All participants in the class must have at least 6 months training in Aikido.

For Calligraphy Class, please wear comfortable clothes you don’t mind getting dirty.
