'Addicted To Art' Painted by Colin Hurley

Hi:) My name is Colin Hurley. I've been painting amuck in the Bay Area for 25 years. Today I am sober two years off negative substances. Art should always be a positive substance. I'm having an art show from 7pm to 8:30pm at the Castro Country Club in San Francisco. I like to paint a lot of different things. I adore the paintings of Tamara De Lempicka more than any famous artist I know of. She knew how to surreally abstract what she saw, beautifully. I have not achieved this yet. Thank god, art would be boring without any goals. I paint a lot of things I paint. Flamingos, pigs, cats, mostly cats, famous people, and landscapes are what I mostly paint. I believe that the Bay Area should be the center of the art world. The Castro is the real Hollywood. I've been painting lately on mirrors. There will be this kind of painting in the show. But there will also be paintings on canvas. There will also be one sculpture I painted with an amazing artist I know named, Tom Franco. About a month ago, I started to dislike painting. So I made a movie and then I disliked filmmaking. So I'm a painter again. I love art. It is God, and God is my higher power. Glitter painting is great. Acrylic is my media because I think it looks better than oils. If I got to the point where art was something dreadful I'd stop doing it. I choose that that will not happen. Even after I get to the point where I've painted the cat a million times, I'll paint a pig. Art is like an attitude. And it's the good one. I'm a big believer that if you enjoy art, everyone around you will as well. That's a great thing too. Artists are definitely not competitors. Or at least the happy ones don't compete. Get better, yes, but being gay with other men is always better than competing with them. I hope my mother never reads that line. Ever. Anyhow, I'm having this art show, in the Castro, and everyone's welcome.
