Cypress Quartet will perform the 2nd program of its 2014-15 Salon Series in a special added date at the beautiful Maybeck Studio for the Performing Arts in Berkeley. Salon Series concerts let audiences experience chamber music in an up-close-and-personal, exhilarating format. On the program are Beethoven's dark and brooding String Quartet Op. 18, No. 4 and his wonderfully optimistic Op. 59, No. 1. In addition, Cypress revisits a CSQ commission by Jeffery Cotton entitled Serenade.
Known for its elegant performances, the Cypress Quartet has been praised for its "artistry of uncommon insight and cohesion," and its sound has been called "beautifully proportioned and powerful".
