Praised for his “visceral and imaginative” performances by The Washington Post, Adam Levin has performed extensively throughout the US, Europe, and South America. Levin has received numerous top prizes, including the Fulbright Scholarship, the Program for Cultural Cooperation Fellowship from Spain’s Cultural Ministry, and the Kate Neal Kinley Memorial Fellowship to research and perform contemporary Spanish guitar repertoire in Madrid, Spain. While studying in Spain, Levin commissioned thirty solo guitar works from four generations of contemporary Spanish composers, which resulted in a contract for a four-volume encyclopedic series for Naxos, 21st Century Spanish Guitar. Levin’s program will explore the evolution of Spanish music from the crowning jewels of the late 19th and early 20th centuries (Turina, Albeniz) to works of the young masters of today. In particular, he will be giving west coast premieres of two major Sonatas by Catalan composer, Salvador Brotons, called Sonata Sefardí, and Spanish-Cuban composer, Eduardo Morales-Caso, called Yemanja Sonata. He will also be performing works by two of the most important Spanish composers of the last 100 years, Antón García Abril and Cristobal Halffter. Al Kunze from Soundboard Magazine described Adam as “an utterly brilliant player, whose ability to assimilate such a wealth of music is inspiring. Levin stands in the company of Segovia and Bream.” https://www.adamlevinguitar.com
