Adam Brookes
The new solo project from Dangermaker's prolific frontman, Adam Brookes, may come as a surprise to fans of his previous work. New debut solo singles All I Got is You & Pressure (Remix) bring a more summery, minimal, electronic feel than we’ve heard from the singer-songwriter before. Recent experiments with electronic production first led to commissioned compositions for The North Face and Brookes realized that certain life-long musical influences had previously been neglected. Rather than force-fitting everything into an existing box, this new solo work is left free to land where it may, fusing electronic and hip-hop influences just as much as rock, pop, R&B or anything else. Following recent festival appearances at Bottlerock Napa and Live 105’s BFD Music Festival among others, Brookes’ music has since appeared on radio, television & film, and Nissan & Acura ads, ahead of his debut solo LP release.
Redwood Sound
Formed in 2017, San Francisco-based indie rock band Redwood Sound has begun to carve out a niche in the local live music scene. Comprised of Dan on lead vocals/guitar, Cory on drums and Laurens on bass, the group expands upon the singer/songwriter convention into stimulating soundscapes that remind you of the past while pointing you towards the future. In addition to playing gigs in the SF Bay Area, the band plans on releasing their first EP early in ‘19.
Steilacoom
If you’ve been searching for the missing link between current-day post-punk/darkwave and the glory days of shoegaze, mixed with dreary, British “rainy-day” gloom music, then SF-based Steilacoom might just be up your alley. Consisting of lead singer/guitarist Dave Han, bassist/keyboardist Rob Hanson, and drummer Jeremy Wexler, their LP Sister b/w White Dog features washed-out vocals, reverb-soaked guitar layers, and hypnotic beats. The band has traveled up and down the west coast, performing in Los Angeles, San Francisco, Oakland, Portland, and more. Stay tuned— In early 2019, Steilacoom will release their next full-length EP Theater of Light.
