The intention of this 11-piece band from Santiago, Chile is to generate attitudes of environmentalism, community building, the promotion of youth self-sufficiency and the general upliftment of life on the planet.
With over 10 years experience in a completely independent and self-managed manner, they have produced two albums: “Change†(2010) and “Day and Night†(2014). In the spirit of the group’s namesake, “Abya Yala†meaning “land of vital blood,†they have been living together for several years in Chile in a home that includes a temple and a studio where many important projects of the new Chilean scene are incubated, including their band. Abya Yala has been sharing its music on stages across Chile and in a parallel universe across the world via social networking, inspiring the band to continue working despite how difficult it is to sustain an artistic project independently.
