ABCO Art Space presents: Marginal Transience - Photography by Beau Patrick Coulon

SEE EVENT DETAILS
at ABCo Artspace (see times)
West Oakland’s ABCO Art Space will be presenting "Marginal Transience", a low fidelity expression of fine art photography by artist Beau Patrick Coulon. In a cultural landscape where so much attention is given to a prescribed and marketed notion of beauty, true splendor often gets overlooked. This body of work explores the experience of everyday interactions with profound moments that often go unnoticed. This show of photographs acts as a collective lense, capturing the transient nature of beauty and happiness on the edges and in the cracks of the American Dream.

Beau Patrick Coulon is a visual artist from California whose practice is rooted in photography, videography, and printmaking. With a perspective informed by decades spent living on the road and being deeply involved in the DIY/Punk scene, he shares the experience of a critical insider who's clearly in love with his subject matter. While experimenting with a wide range of analog film media such as disposable 35mm cameras, medium format and instant film, he explores themes of romance, liberation, adventure, and rebellious humor. With his documentation of alleyways, rail yards, punk houses, and bizarre urban landscapes, he introduces us to these often disregarded places and the people that inhabit them. From this vantage, there is a letting go of preconceived ideas and an outlook extending beyond the dominant narrative. On November 6th, in his first solo exhibit, Coulon's photo works will be available to the public as “Marginal Transience” opens at ABCO Art Space. The dates for this exhibition are November 6 - 13, 2014.
