The Grease Diner will present an evening of interactive live art and sound performances by Two Mako Sharks and Heco Music Machine. Two Mako Sharks is the creation of Hannah Thompson and Avrid Tomayko. The two met in Providence RI, and collaborated for their cross-country and west-coast tour, “Two Mako Sharks.” Hannah and Avrid will step into a wearable two-person fabric sculpture performing as an interactive instrument. The performance takes place in two 15 minute segments. In the first segment, Hannah performs the wearable sculptures along to Avrid’s electronic compositions, and in the second the two perform together inside the fabric sculpture. With their interactive movements, their conjoined tentacles create different noises as the two move. Heco Music Machine is the solo project of long-time Oakland resident, artist, and musician. Heco is is also the owner/operator of Heco’s Palace - a long running DIY venue thats occupied many local & touring acts from Deerhoof to art post punk rockers’ Naked Lights. Heco will be presenting a compendium of recent sound sculptural work. It includes “The Magic Bike Wheel and Morse Code Mayhem,” where Heco places 200 different objects onto suspended and spinning bike wheels. The result is a surprising and interactive display of sound. His performance is about 30 minutes. The show will take place from 8-10pm, on Friday September 26, and the performance will start at 8:30pm sharp. It’s a one day event only! Food and refreshments will be provided. Sliding scale donation will be optional, in support of the touring artists. The Grease Diner looks forward to an evening of live, interactive, sound and art performances.
