A Life in Dance: Resources for Those on Stage at Every Stage

SEE EVENT DETAILS

ODC and the Healthy Dancer's Clinic are pleased to host The Actors Fund in partnership with The American Guild of Musical Artists (AGMA) and St. Mary's Liberal Education for Arts Professionals (LEAP) program for a free seminar on resources for dancers. The Actors Fund is a national organization that has long-supported the dance community in managing the unique demands of a life in dance. To assist dancers during and post-career, The Dancers’ Resource and Career Transition For Dancers programs offer the following services:

Career development and management

Health, wellness, and support for injured dancers

Emergency Financial Assistance & Scholarships

The Actors Fund will introduce their free and confidential services available to the dance community. And to better serve you, they want to hear from YOU about the challenges of being a dance artist in San Francisco.
This session is meant for union and non-union professional dancers, dance artists, college students, pre-professional dancers, those considering career transition, and anyone interested in learning about what The Actors Fund offers.
Dancers of all disciplines and career paths are welcome!
About LEAP
The LEAP program has been designed for professional dancers, either currently performing, retired, or transitioned, to continue their education or earn their BA degree.
LEAP makes it possible for dancers to prepare intellectually and emotionally for a meaningful life after dance by offering them the chance to explore different disciplines, develop multiple perspectives, discover new passions, and become confident, lifelong learners. LEAPoffers:

A Bachelor of Arts degree in three to four years of part-time study

A comprehensive liberal arts education at a nationally recognized college

The tools for career advancement or career transition upon retirement from dance

A highly individualized curriculum

Class locations and schedules that are compatible with the performance and touring calendars of professional dancers

Significant college credit for professional dance experience as well as for prior learning in other subject areas

Resources, counseling, financial aid and moral support

Special thanks to the Bossak Heilbron Foundation.
