A.I.R. Closing - Dinner Party

SEE EVENT DETAILS
at residence/sf (see times)
You are cordially invited to the closing dinner of residence/SF's A.I.R. (Artists in Residence). Please bring your favourite dish for potluck style sharing and hear about the artists' week in review. R/SF will provide cutlery and plates and signature refreshments are available by donation.

AIR is the launch of residence/SF’s “Artist in Residence”. Bay Area artists Kaitlin Trataris and Paula Morales will reside in the space for a week in an effort to collaborate in living and art making. AIR aims to focus in on the ways in which the communal, domestic, and personal life support and form the artist and their practice. Kaitlin and Paula will negotiate their roles and obligations inside of a domestic environment while creating collaborative works that respond to the nature of domesticity in both action and form.

HOURS:
posted daily by the artists on this facebook page. https://www.facebook.com/events/1299966590019358/

EVENTS:
Opening Slumber Party --> Saturday 3/12 8pm-10pm

Closing Dinner Party --> Sunday 3/20 6pm-8pm

BIOS:
Kaitlin Trataris relocates the personal space from inside the home into public view. Her silk screened and sewn fabric soft sculptures of kitchen objects and foods transform domestic environments into explorable sites that reveal the effects of mass media consumer culture on the home and its inhabitants. She uses color, texture and form to recreate the foods and materials that mark a specific time, location and status of the individual who consumes them. Kaitlin uses domestic and craft mediums through sculptural, installation, and performative work.

Paula Morales (1983) investigates the space between the analogue and digital worlds. As a visual artist she is constantly questioning images and their origins. Her work is charged with nostalgic elements as well as modern cliches while exploring space as a subject. She currently finds herself exploring "thingness" and things as an aesthetic expansion of spaces and people through installation pieces. Her works range from editorial portraiture, digital media, video , installation and virtual performance.
