In honor of Black History Month, Felicia Horowitz proudly invites you to a very special screening of the new documentary A Fresh Guide to Florence with Fab 5 Freddy. This film will feature beloved hip hop pioneer and artist Fab 5 Freddy as he examines race and culture in 15th and 16th century Italy, in particular the extraordinary and ground-breaking representations of Africans in Renaissance art. Fab will upend assumptions about the Renaissance era and bring a sharp-edged social critique to a time and place when some of the greatest art in history was being made, and before the “science of race” had constructed its poisonous ideology of racial hierarchy.
The film screening will be followed by a Q&A with Fab 5 Freddy and special guests.
Please join us on Sunday, February 24, 2019 at GLIDE for this very special event!
All guests MUST be registered to attend. Please only reserve a seat if you are able to attend.
