Join all six memebers of Gold Star Dance Company for a day of dance and performance. We'll be taking over Little Boxes Theater for 7 hours of workshops and ending the day with a sweet little intimate show featuring Gold Star and our workshop participants.Schedule:10:00am to 11:10am workshop: Kami Liddle: Arms Galore!Arm work is what I am most often requested to teach and I love sharing ways of utilizing your arms in our dance. I will offer various arm patterns and shapes to layer with and utilize with using basic isolation and foot patterns.11:15am to 12:25pm workshop: Aimee Krasovich: Jazz/Lyrical “Flurry of Feet”The way you move across the stage can be the difference between presenting as an intermediate dancer versus a pro. We will work on turns and traveling combos to learn how to transition from one movement to the other and go in depth on technique to really learn how to “work into the floor”. 12:30pm to 1:400pm: Rose Harden: Hard Hitting HipworkDon't let your hip work get lost in the shuffle... Drills and alignment work to increase your range of motion and decrease your chance of injury, traveling progressions to get you comfortable with keeping your hips moving while you move though your dance space, and SHIMMIES, big juicy fun shimmies!Lunch 1:40pm to 2:30pm2:30pm to 3:40pm Julie Rea: e-and-a-four Jump into a crash course in musical notation so you can more easily identify rhythmic patterns, communicate with musicians, and map out your songs before beginning a choreography or improvising in a performance. We'll work together on rhythms, syncopation, and how they fit with movement combos. No previous musical training required. Please bring a notebook and pen/pencil.3:45pm to 4:55pm: Gina Bruno: Syncopations… Mix and Layer SessionLearn basic techniques to execute dynamic syncopated movements. Explore mixing soft and strong layers, overlaid with killer classic bellydance technique.5:00pm to 6:10pm: Kae Montgomery: Intro to Flexible BodyDance is a creative expression that demands physical stamina and wellbeing. Learn to properly warm-up, train and cool down your dancing body to expand athletic possibilities and translate your greatest ideas (like Laybacks, Zippers, and Turkish Drops!) into physical expression. Kae is a certified Yoga instructor from the Morigami Yoga Academy in Japan and has taught over 20 years of teaching fitness classes including also Hatha Yoga, Dynamic Stretching, and Cardio Dance Exercise. Please bring a yoga mat, yoga blocks (if you have any) and knee padsAfter class, stick around and join us for an intimate evening of performances. The show is a fundraiser for Gold Star with a suggested donation of $15. We'll have some light refreshments as well as wonderful vendors for your shopping fix.Doors at 7:30pmShow at 8:00pmPrice:7 hours of workshops plus a ticket to the show for only $125 if you register before December 15th! The price will go up to $150 on December 16th.
