A Challenge of Being: A Collective Exploration w/ maria lentzou

SEE EVENT DETAILS
At the sound of a bell 0 choreography on 11 golden moons for $22 suggested donation from 22 pairs of eyes to witness 44min of authenticity and interact in 5 possible ways
The Red Poppy Art House invites you to join “A Challenge of Being,” a collective exploration on empathy, presence, authenticity, and vulnerability. How vulnerable is it to be real? What prevents us from being authentic? What is the challenge to be present for another? How can we empathize with the uncomfortable?
“Within a simple and respectful structure, that is based on my practice of Authentic Movement, I let myself dive into the depths of the subconscious, to move and be moved. I have no intention to entertain you. I challenge myself to be wholeheartedly real at your presence, and I challenge you to be active witnesses; because “the soul cannot exist without its other side, which is always found in a ‘You’ (Jung, 1954). I surrender to the unknown, and You become the owners of your experience. I follow my inner impulses and You have the free will to just witness or to participate by ‘making special’. In any case, we are all co-creators of this collective Alive exploration.”   ABOUT THE ARTIST: maria lentzou is an expressive arts therapist and interdisciplinary performing artist originally from Greece. She is the founder of Authentic Movement SF and a lead performance host at the Red Poppy since 2015. Her performance work has been presented locally at Z-space, Pianofight, Red Poppy Art House, CounterPulse, and internationally in England, Peru, and Argentina. mariA enjoys creating simple performative acts as an invitation to the imagination through embodied experiences that provide an all-time-in-between space, where playfulness meets sacredness and vice versa. Her mission is to honor the beauty of our multifaceted existences, along with the mystery of life-death-life in its paradoxical nature; to embody and communicate the power of authenticity, of humbleness, and of love.
