SEE EVENT DETAILS
Paid Reservations required in advance ( limited to 150)
NOTE: Check-in promptly at 7:00 PM. NO backpacks or large bags allowed in the Library. Teams will be coordinated on site.
The Mechanics’ Institute Treasure Hunt is an enjoyable and engaging way for members and the public to discover the history and physical entity of the MI.  Often called “San Francisco’s hidden gem”— participants will explore and interact with many aspects of  Mechanics’ Institute’s rich history, the architectural beauty and elegance of this classical Beaux-Arts building designed by architect Albert Pissis (circa 1910);  the resources of the Library and Chess Room; and the essence and mission of their institution today.
Treasure Hunt seekers will enter the lobby and receive a site map and self-guided treasure hunt map/card with a list of destinations, tasks and discoveries on various floors.  Each task will have a literary, historical or architectural reference.  Upon accomplishing each task, a volunteer will stamp the map.  Individual and team participation with be required. Participants will be rewarded for completion of the treasure hunt—and of course, there will be a “pot of gold” at the end with surprises and prizes for all including a drawing for a one- year gift membership to Mechanics’ Institute. Have fun!
