10 Restaurants to Watch in 2011

If you are not tired of lists yet, the New York Times has come out with its list of 10 restaurants around the world to keep an eye on in 2011, including a local fine dining establishment.

Corey Lee’s highly acclaimed Benu, which opened in August, was one of three restaurants making the list from the United States.

Lee served as Thomas Keller’s chef de cuisine at the French Laundry before opening Benu in San Francisco. Despite the lofty expectations and high prices, “the response has been impressive,” including earning three and a half stars from the San Francisco Chronicle’s Michael Bauer.

Bauer noted “a beautifully crafted menu that looks eastward for inspiration.”

The other American restaurants to make the list were Willows Inn on tiny Lummi Island, which is about two hours from Seattle, Washington and M. Wells, a diner in Long Island, New York.

The list also featured two restaurants from Spain and one each from London, France, Sydney, Singapore and Uruguay.
